Grow in full or partial shade; best with some morning sun. Plant in moist, well-drained soil; amend with compost before planting. Water regularly in summer. Foliage often goes dormant mid-summer, but will re-appear the following spring; mark the planting site to avoid disturbance in spring before they sprout out. Mulch in autumn with chopped leaves. Slow to establish, but worth the wait.
